This is an article about one single song. Not more - not less. Martin got in touch with me and sent me the link to the video below. The song is about the Prague uprising that took place between 05.05.1945 and 09.05.1945. It was the biggest battle of the Czech resistance during the 2nd world war.
The song is also dedicated to the grandfather of Martin. His grandfather fought during the uprising. He sadly passed away a couple of months ago. Martin sends a strong message: Appreciate the people who fought against evil and tyranny. Thank them while they are still alive.
Whilst Martin had a producer for this track, he is the one behind the music. I have asked him about the lyrics in English. They are an account of what happened during the uprising and send out a strong message: we must be grateful to those who fought against evil and we must stand up against tyranny!
The track in itself is quite though and supported by a really good video with real pictures from that time. It is an account of what these brave men and women accomplished during a very short period of time. They stood up against the Nazi cowards and sent them packing. This is the short version but I recommend that you look at this Wikipedia article to see a more detailed account of what has happened! We should not forget! Obviously, this was not the last battle for our friends in Prague as we all know and my heart goes out to them.
On a personal note: I am touched by this track and deeply moved by the actions of these brave women and men! Has the world made any progress? I do not think so. War is still raging all over the place and what is worse, there is still plenty of Nazi scum all over the world. There are extremists everywhere and as long as this is the case, there will never be peace on this beautiful planet.
We need to stand up and show that we disagree. We need to stand up and make sure that the brave actions of our ancestors were not in vain. We can make a difference every day by showing respect to people who may not share the same culture, race or religion. By being nice - it is so simple! We do not need weapons, we do not need to be violent. It starts with each and everyone of us and if we all make an effort, it can have a big impact. Go out there and vote and send out a message that extremists have no place in our society!
Thank you Martin for a great track and for standing up!
